HUST Teachers and Students look forward to the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day

This morning (July 17), generations of teachers and students of Hanoi University of Science and Technology gathered at the Monument of lecturers and students who joined the army at HUST. In a solemn atmosphere looking toward the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day, the children of HUST respectfully offered bright fresh flowers and profound gratitude to the heroes who sacrificed their youth and blood for the nation's independence.

Standing before the sacred symbol, Prof. Le Anh Tuan - Secretary of the Party Committee and University President - along with the collective of staff, students, and war veterans, observed a minute of silence to remember the outstanding children who laid down their lives for the peaceful life of the people.
  The glorious history of the University marks nearly 3,000 staff and students who set aside their pens to go to battle during the national salvation resistance wars and border defense missions. Half of them laid down permanently on the battlefields, writing a dazzling golden history page for the school and the Fatherland. 9 staff and students of Hanoi University of Science and Technology were honored to be awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and the State. The monument, built in 2005, has become a red address for educating revolutionary traditions and cultivating patriotic ideals for today's and tomorrow's generations.
  At the warm and affectionate meeting, on behalf of the University, Prof. Le Anh Tuan presented meaningful gifts to 8 students who are children of martyrs currently studying at Hanoi University of Science and Technology. These gifts, carrying the deep affection and gratitude of the collective of HUST staff, lecturers, and students, serve as words of encouragement for the students to strive in studying, training, and promoting their families' fine traditions.

The most moving were the words shared by Hoang Phuong Huyen - a K68 student of the School of Materials Science and Engineering. Huyen's father dedicated 28 years of his youth wearing the soldier's uniform, ready to take on missions in difficult border areas such as Phong Tho (Lai Chau) or the 345th Economic Defense Regiment in Bat Xat district (Lao Cai). The harsh climate and deprived living conditions caused Huyen's father to contract a critical illness and pass away when many plans were still unfinished.
  Huyen confided that she herself had moments of stumbling, but when stepping into the HUST lecture halls, she always feels the sharing and loving affection of teachers, friends, and the war veterans. Emotionally receiving the gift from the University President, Phuong Huyen promised to use the solid knowledge learned under the roof of HUST to be independent, take care of her mother, and contribute her small labor to society, worthy of the sacrifice of her beloved father.

The ceremony closed, but the echoes of gratitude still spread deeply in the minds of every attendee. This meaningful activity contributes to fostering the patriotic spirit, reminding the younger generation to always remember the merits of the predecessors who sacrificed for the nation's cause of independence and freedom.
