From July 23 to 25, the School of Materials Science and Engineering - Hanoi University of Science and Technology hosted the 20th International Conference on the Physical Properties and Application of Advanced Materials (ICPMAT 2026) and the 2nd International Conference on Advanced Materials and Technology (ICAMT 2026).
ICPMAT is an annual international scientific conference founded by the University of Toyama (Japan) and the Japan Institute of Metals, held on a rotating basis within a network of international partner universities, including Kyungpook National University (South Korea), Shandong University (China), Chiang Mai University (Thailand), and Hanoi University of Science and Technology (Vietnam). The conference brings together universities and research institutes from Asia and Europe, focusing on fundamental and applied research achievements in physics, materials science, structural materials, functional materials, materials engineering, and computational simulation.
Parallel with ICPMAT, ICAMT is an international conference initiated by the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Hanoi University of Science and Technology since 2024 to expand the academic forum and promote research cooperation in the field of advanced materials and technology.
Speaking at the conference, Prof. Le Anh Tuan - President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology - emphasized that materials science is entering a phase of robust development thanks to the support of artificial intelligence and digital technology, opening up the possibility of shortening the research, design, and development time for new materials with superior performance.
In the development strategy of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, advanced materials is one of the priority areas alongside smart systems, artificial intelligence, data technology, green energy, and health sciences. To maximize the potential of this field, international cooperation and multidisciplinary research linkages are considered key factors.
Prof. Le Anh Tuan - President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology
Representing the organizing committee, Prof. Huynh Trung Hai - Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, stated that co-hosting ICPMAT 2026 and ICAMT 2026 is one of the activities looking towards the 70th founding anniversary of Hanoi University of Science and Technology (1956-2026). The conference not only contributes to promoting scientific research but also affirms the role of Hanoi University of Science and Technology in connecting international research networks, developing high-quality human resources, and fostering innovation in the field of advanced materials.
In the context where advanced materials are considered the foundation of many strategic technology sectors such as semiconductors, green energy, smart manufacturing, biomedicine, and the digital economy, the conference program focuses on many modern research directions such as high-performance metals and alloys, polymer and composite materials, functional materials, smart textile materials, nanotechnology, and sensors. The presentation sessions are opportunities for scientists to share new research results while promoting interdisciplinary cooperation among physics, chemistry, materials science, biomaterials, and nanotechnology.
