The Ministry of Education and Training Appoints Assoc. Prof. Ta Hai Tung as Vice President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology

This afternoon (July 9), at the Ceremony to Announce the Decision on Personnel Work organized by the Ministry of Education and Training, Assoc. Prof. Hoang Minh Son - Minister of Education and Training - handed over the Appointment Decision to Assoc. Prof. Ta Hai Tung - Secretary of the Party Committee, Dean of the School of Information and Communication Technology under Hanoi University of Science and Technology - to hold the position of Vice President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

Taking on the new role, Assoc. Prof. Ta Hai Tung is directly in charge of the following areas: Scientific Research, Innovation, and Digital Transformation. Hanoi University of Science and Technology expects these key areas of work to create a breakthrough, contributing to building the University according to the modern research university model.

Assoc. Prof. Ta Hai Tung was born in 1980 in Hanoi. He is an alumnus of Cohort 43 majoring in Information Technology at Hanoi University of Science and Technology. After graduating as an engineer in 2003, Mr. Tung began working at the university as a lecturer in February 2004.

Regarding his professional qualifications, Assoc. Prof. Ta Hai Tung received his Ph.D. in Information and Communication Technology in 2010, jointly awarded by 3 technical universities in Italy, including Politecnico di Torino, Politecnico di Milano, and Politecnico di Bari. Before being appointed as the University's Vice President, he held various management positions: Director of the International Research Centre for Satellite Navigation Technology (NAVIS); and Director, then Dean of the School of Information and Communication Technology.

Currently, Assoc. Prof. Ta Hai Tung holds many important roles at the national level, such as: Member of the National Advisory Council, Member of the Assisting Team of the Central Steering Committee on implementing Resolution 57, and Member of the Prime Minister's Assisting Team on the development of science, technology, innovation, digital transformation, and Project 06.

Assoc. Prof. Ta Hai Tung has directly led many high-impact technology projects, such as: Manufacturing fingerprint machines for the Ministry of Public Security's issuance of Citizen Identity Cards; and operating the Digital Popular Education platform supporting over 2 million learners. These contributions have brought him many titles: Golden Globe Award (2013), Order of Merit of the Italian Republic (2020), and Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister in 2021 and 2025.

With extensive practical experience at national and international levels, Assoc. Prof. Ta Hai Tung is expected to drive the Science - Technology, Innovation, and Digital Transformation activities of Hanoi University of Science and Technology toward new developmental strides, contributing to the successful implementation of the tasks in Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation.
