At Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), collaboration with businesses not only provides financial resources but also opens doors to practical connections, fostering innovation and sustainable development for both students and faculty. Attracting corporate sponsorship is becoming an increasingly vibrant activity at HUST.
In the 2023-2024 academic year, Hanoi University of Science and Technology honored three outstanding faculty members for their success in attracting sponsorships and research collaborations: Dr. Nguyen Danh Huy from the School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering; Prof. Huynh Trung Hai from the School of Materials; and Dr. Nguyen Anh Vu from the School of Chemical and Life Sciences.
Outstanding training quality
When speaking with Dr. Nguyen Danh Huy from the School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, he proudly shares that many reputable domestic and international companies are eager to partner with the school and HUST. Their primary interest is investing in HUST's future engineers to ensure they have the best possible learning conditions.
Alumni are also a major source of heartfelt support for the university. Having graduated from HUST, they understand better than anyone the quality of the university's training and its graduates. To get a head start on recruiting talented younger generations, businesses led by HUST alumni often sponsor training programs, research equipment, and learning resources for students.
To build these strong connections with domestic and international enterprises, Dr. Nguyen Danh Huy explains that the school regularly follows industry news from major corporations, supports them at science and technology exhibitions, and recommends students for internships. This continuous interaction forges a close relationship between the university and the business community.
The ability to solve complex problems
Prof. Huynh Trung Hai, Dean of the School of Materials, states: "The School of Materials doesn't wait for businesses to come to us; we proactively seek them out. This is a mutually beneficial partnership." The School of Materials is ready to collaborate with companies to address and resolve technical and technological challenges they face in production. As a result, businesses are highly receptive and always give the "green light" for the school to send students for internships.
Collaborating with industry is a way for the university to develop new products tied to the practical needs of businesses. This, in turn, ensures that lecture content and faculty research directions are continuously renewed and updated, giving students the most relevant insights into the corporate world.
As a leader, Prof. Huynh Trung Hai maintains close ties with businesses. Through long-term engagement and collaboration, the School of Materials at HUST has solidified its name and standing in the field. Consequently, many large corporations approach the school to propose sponsorships and R&D partnerships. The Dean shares, "We don't place too much importance on whether a corporation is large or small. As long as the collaboration is mutually beneficial, we are ready to partner!"
Prof. Hai believes that seeking corporate sponsorship does not compromise his position as a leader. This open-minded leadership contributes to the ever-stronger development of Hanoi University of Science and Technology.
Ready to approach businesses
With a progressive spirit and a passion for inquiry, the School of Chemical and Life Sciences always understands what businesses need and what challenges they want to overcome. The school is therefore ready to partner with companies to solve problems quickly, efficiently, and clearly. Furthermore, the transparency, commitment to effectiveness, and high practicality of its collaborative projects and research are key factors that earn businesses' trust in HUST.
The school is not afraid to make the first move. With their outstanding capabilities, HUST scientists are prepared to "knock on the doors" of businesses with concrete solutions and a proactive attitude.
For HUST faculty, connecting with industry is not a peripheral task but a natural part of modern teaching and research. Every successful collaboration brings a sense of pride to these educators.
Strengthening corporate and international partnerships is a core objective of Hanoi University of Science and Technology's development strategy for the 2017-2025 period. Attracting corporate sponsorship is not merely a financial solution but also a bridge for HUST to enhance its training and research quality and connect with real-world practice. By building sustainable collaboration strategies and leveraging its reputation and potential, HUST can firmly establish its position as a pioneer in linking education with enterprise. This journey not only benefits the university but also contributes to socio-economic development, creating a sustainable ecosystem of innovation for the future.
