1.STEM - Study scholarships for STEM disciplines

These scholarships give students from developing and emerging countries the chance to obtain a Master’s degree in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and engineering in a state or state-recognized university in Germany.

2.      Development-Related Postgraduate Courses (DAAD EPOS)

The scholarships offer graduates from developing countries from different disciplines and with at least two years' professional experience the chance to take a selected postgraduate or Master's degree at a state or state-recognised German university, and in exceptional cases to take a doctoral degree, and to obtain a university qualification (Master's/PhD) in Germany.

3.      Helmut-Schmidt-Programme for Public Policy and Good Governance

The programme offers highly qualified graduates with a first academic degree who are being educated in political science, law, economics and administration and prepared for future leading positions in their home countries the chance to acquire a Master’s degree in Master programmes of particular relevance for the social, political and economic development in their countries of origin.

4.      Study Scholarships for Foreign Graduates in the Field of Music

This scholarship programme offers the candidates the opportunity to continue their education in Germany with a postgraduate or continuing course of study in the field of music. The scholarships also promote the exchange of experience and networking amongst colleagues.

5.Study Scholarships for Foreign Graduates in the Fields of Fine Art, Design/Visual Communication and Film

This scholarship programme offers the candidates the opportunity to continue their education in Germany with a postgraduate or complementary course of study in the fields of Fine Art, Design, Visual Communication and Film. The scholarships also promote the exchange of experience and networking amongst colleagues.

Scholarship programmes for doctoral candidates

Candidates who gained a bachelor's degree and a master's degree and want to conduct part of or to complete their research project at a German university or research institute can apply for the following DAAD scholarship programes:

1.     Research Grants - Doctoral Programmes in Germany

Full scholarship to complete a doctoral programme in Germany. The scholarship duration is from 3 to maximum 4 years.

2.     Research Grants – Bi-Nationally Supervised Doctoral Degrees  

Scholarships for domestic PhD students who want to carry out part of their research proposal in Germany. The scholarship duration is from 7 months to maximum 24 months.

3.Research Grants in Germany (short term from 2 to 12 months)

Short-term research fellowships of 2 to 12 months are for candidates who are doing their doctorate at a university or research institution outside Germany.

1.     Re-Invitation Programme for Former DAAD Scholarship Holders

This programme offers former DAAD scholarship holders the opportunity to carry out research and working projects in Germany and to maintain contacts as part of DAAD's global alumni network. The scholarships are funded by the German Federal Foreign Office.
