On a brightly colored Republic Day in 2026 on the campus of the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) in India, amidst flags and representatives from over 30 countries, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Ha – a lecturer at the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), and the sole representative from Vietnam – stood silently for a few seconds longer than usual. She recounted that her emotions at that moment were not easy to name: a bit of pride, a bit of emotion, and most clearly, the awareness that she was carrying the image of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, a place she has long considered her "second family."
Looking around, Ms. Minh Ha felt small amidst a vast academic community. That very feeling opened up another connection between a young lecturer and the world, between the Faculty of Foreign Languages and the international academic network, and between the classrooms at Hanoi University of Science and Technology and the educational trends shifting every day.
The story begins from such a moment and does not stop at just one person.
HUST Foreign Language Classrooms Reach International Standards
After professional exchange sessions with language professors at EFLU, what impressed Ms. Minh Ha the most was the similarities.
Ms. Minh Ha's "practical" classroom with international lecturers
Modules on academic skills, critical thinking, or action research—contents currently being deployed at the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Hanoi University of Science and Technology—are exactly what international universities are pursuing. Training programs such as FL1 - English for Science and Technology, and FL2 - International Professional English have been built with an academic foundation equivalent to international standards.
In particular, the FL1 and FL2 (IPE) programs, in cooperation with Plymouth Marjon University (UK), have both been accredited and certified to meet the quality standards of the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA). This shows that internationalization is present right in the program structure, in classroom organization, and in every lecture hour of the faculty.
The advantage of the lecturers at the HUST Faculty of Foreign Languages also comes from the specific environment of Vietnam's leading technical and technological university, where technology becomes a natural part of teaching. AI, blended learning, and digital tools are introduced into the classroom proactively and flexibly.
While many places are still getting used to digital transformation, at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, lecturers have taken a step ahead: Mastering technology to serve learners.

Changes Starting from the Very Small Things
Returning from India, Ms. Minh Ha brought back "materials" that can be seen right in the classroom. She gained deeper insight into integrating AI in the classroom, designing activities to develop critical thinking, and using forms of assessment for learner progress rather than just focusing on the final result.
In addition, models such as blended learning, gamification, digital storytelling, and pedagogical translanguaging helped her rethink how to organize lectures in a more flexible, multilingual manner that is closer to reality.
"My biggest takeaway is the spirit of adaptive teaching: There is no single correct method; teachers must continuously adjust to suit the learners," Ms. Minh Ha shared.
And in HUST's foreign language classes, one can see how a lecturer redesigns a question to encourage students to think deeper; how a group activity creates opportunities for more interaction; or how a lecture integrates digital storytelling, gamification, or pedagogical translanguaging to be closer to reality... The learner-centered approach, adaptive teaching, and assessment for progress have gradually become familiar choices for HUST Foreign Language teachers.
Behind those changes is a repeatedly mentioned concept: If the teacher stops, the classroom will become outdated very quickly. That spirit is the positive pressure that the entire teaching staff of the Faculty of Foreign Languages sets for themselves.
In a world where technology and artificial intelligence change daily, continuous learning, connecting, and experimenting have become a part of teaching. The international training trips, professional seminars, and joint research projects of Ms. Minh Ha, her colleagues, and HUST students have created a continuous flow of knowledge between Hanoi University of Science and Technology and the world.

From the Lecture Hall to the Door of Integration
What was brought back after the trip does not stop at personal experience. Ideas about using AI as a "teaching assistant", personalizing learning, and research projects with students are gradually taking shape within the environment of the HUST Faculty of Foreign Languages. University and School leaders strongly encourage and support lecturers to experiment, students are facilitated to participate, and learning is expanded beyond the framework of a single subject.
The Faculty of Foreign Languages, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, with a foundation of nearly 70 years of development, is acting as a "launchpad" for those who want to step out into the world with foreign language proficiency and personal bravery. Students enrolled in the FL1 and FL2 programs are equipped with professional knowledge, academic skills, the ability to adapt to technology, and a readiness to integrate. More importantly, they study with lecturers who constantly renew themselves and always find ways to bring the world into the classroom.
Especially, the sincerity of a HUSTer becomes a common "language." The bravery of a HUST lecturer is shown through how they learn, connect, and tell their story to the world.
The HUST teacher and her Indian colleagues
After 6 weeks of studying and cultural exchange at the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), the HUST teacher returned with a feeling of "being filled"—a starting point for the next changes in the lecture hall. She revealed her desire to apply AI to personalize learning and to plan her own research projects, as well as joint research with students on using smart chatbots to support learning and improve English learning techniques.
It is clear that the lecturers of the Faculty of Foreign Languages are connecting global knowledge with the HUST classroom every day, ensuring that every student can confidently open the doors to their career when stepping out into the world.
