Call for applications: 19th Asia Oceania Top University League on Engineering - “Engineering for Sustainability”

Student Conference 
The AOTULE 2024 student project aims to bring together engineering students from various countries and universities to collaborate on cross-national approaches to global sustainability challenges. Given the diversity in the participants' backgrounds, both in terms of countries and engineering disciplines, the project seeks to foster knowledge sharing and understanding of different engineering practices. The students will work in small, multinational groups of 4-5 people, and each group will be assigned a specific topic related to sustainable engineering, such as renewable energy, waste management, or sustainable transportation. Over the course of the three-day event, students will visit various locations in Bandung to observe local sustainability practices, which will provide them with practical insights and opportunities to compare how different countries address similar challenges.
The project emphasizes teamwork, creativity, and practical solutions to global and local sustainability issues. Each group will present their findings and proposed solutions to a panel of judges, with presentations lasting 20-30 minutes, including a Q&A session. The best groups will be selected to present in front of the Deans, who will ultimately choose the top group based on criteria such as relevance to the theme, innovation, collaboration, and communication. The project will commence two weeks prior to AOTULE 2024, during which students will engage in online discussions before the event. The goal of the project is not only to produce innovative ideas but also to foster cross-national learning and contribute to global sustainability goals.

The general schedule is as follows:

• October 30, 2024: Project kickoff (online)
• November 6, 2024: Student visits to local sites in Bandung (Djuanda Forest Park, Mini)
• Hydro Power Plant, Surrounding Communities near ITB)
• November 7, 2024: Student group presentations and award ceremony

Joining the conference, HUST student will get:

• Opportunity to exchange and learn with students from 13 leading technical universities in the Asia-Pacific region.
• Certificate awarded upon participation in the workshop.
• Accompanied by lecturers from Hanoi University of Science and Technology.
• Provided with some meals during the workshop, a campus tour, and a city visit in the capital city of West Java of Indonesia.

ABOUT ITB
Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) is located in the north part of Bandung, the capital city of West Java province; a city famous for its relatively cool and pleasant climate. A simple account of the city of Bandung prior to the establishment of ITB Campus seems to be necessary to illustrate the atmosphere of the land of Parahyangan at the time. Bandung was previously a small village in Parahyangan. The name "Parahyangan", originates from Sundanese meaning the land of gods, which probably refers to the north of present day Bandung in the Tangkuban Perahu Mountain area.
