On March 25, the the Parabol Gate of Hanoi University of Science and Technology became livelier than usual. Amid the flow of passersby were 14 outstanding student representatives of HUST young generation - carrying confidence, resilience, and the aspiration to contribute their intellect in a special research trip to China.
HUST students before the trip
Leading the delegation was Associate Professor Le Minh Hoang, Party Committee member and Director of Adminstration Office of the University, along with faculty and staff members. The trip was a journey of trust, where young people brought with them knowledge to connect, learn, and share Vietnamese values.
To be a part of the trip, each student went through a rigorous selection process. They possessed outstanding academic achievements, strong teamwork skills, interdisciplinary thinking, and global adaptability - core qualities of a global citizen in the new era.
Intellectual Strength and Global Integration Aspirations
At the Vietnam - China Youth Forum held in Shijiazhuang, the dynamic image of HUST students left a deep impression through their intellectually rich presentations.
Tran Nguyen My Anh, Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of the School of Information and Communication Technology
Tran Nguyen My Anh, Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of the School of Information and Communication Technology, made a strong impression with her presentation on steadfast ideals linked to scientific and technological innovation. For My Anh, knowledge is the foundational strength for both nations to rise in a new era.
She tactfully recalled President Ho Chi Minh’s “Binh dan hoc vu” launched after 1945 to eradicate illiteracy, affirming that a nation that places its trust in knowledge can change its destiny. She emphasized that today’s challenge lies not in physical boundaries but in innovation capacity and adaptability in the technological age.
Nguyen Dinh Dao, a Youth Union Executive Committee member of HUST
Continuing that spirit, Nguyen Dinh Dao, a Youth Union Executive Committee member of the university, presented a profound perspective on the mission of building a “community with a shared future for mankind.” He stressed that lasting friendship must be realized through concrete actions, such as applying artificial intelligence and digital technology in volunteer activities. According to him, proactive exchanges in innovation between young people of both countries can help bridge gaps in perception between civilizations.
This viewpoint reflects a generation of HUST students who are not only academically strong but also politically aware, deeply understanding the value of connection and mutual sharing among civilizations.
Pham Tri Kien, a student majoring in Microelectronics Engineering and Nanotechnology
Pham Tri Kien, a student majoring in Microelectronics Engineering and Nanotechnology, further demonstrated this intellectual depth. He elevated the concept of “green development” by linking it to the Fifth Industrial Revolution. He argued that green development today goes beyond planting trees or reducing waste - it requires scientific and technological intervention at the root of production methods.
Kien outlined three main pillars: New energy and materials, the power of AI and the Internet of Things in building smart cities, and technologies that enable a circular economy. His presentation reflected the vision of a future engineer tackling global climate change and Net Zero commitments. He emphasized that youth should not merely consume technology but actively co-create sustainable solutions.
Mission, Legacy, and Responsibility in a New Era
Throughout their journey in Yunnan and Hebei, the students maintained confidence and composure, acting as ambassadors connecting cultures and knowledge.
HUSTers who joined the 2026 "Red Journey"
A visit to the former residence and workplace of President Ho Chi Minh in Kunming deeply moved the delegation. In that historical space, the revolutionary values of previous generations shone brightly. Students expressed strong emotions as they learned about his life and work in China.
Exploring historical sites helped them gain a deeper understanding of national history while strengthening their sense of responsibility and dedication. These Gen Z students realized that inheriting revolutionary traditions means continuing core values of ideology and responsibility in a modern context.
Their study trip also included exploring intangible cultural heritage in various localities, broadening their worldview and reinforcing the importance of preserving traditions alongside innovation.
At the Shijiazhuang International Inland Port, observing modern logistics systems strengthened their belief in building the future on solid scientific and technological foundations. These experiences further empowered them to confidently step onto the global stage and contribute intellectually to Vietnam - China cooperation.
One of the most memorable moments was the farewell night on March 31, when the 14 students performed a powerful mashup of “Nha toi co treo mot la co” and “Con gi dep hon.” The carefully prepared performance, featuring Chinese translations and visuals of Vietnam’s people and landscapes, energized the entire audience and showcased the unique identity of HUST students: Academically excellent, resilient, and deeply proud of their nation.
HUSTers in China
Although the 2026 “Red Journey” has come to an end, its values continue to resonate - through insightful presentations, meaningful experiences, and emotional exchanges. Together, these elements have painted a vivid picture of HUST students as dynamic, intelligent, and globally integrated.
Each student in the delegation served not only as a learner but also as an “ambassador,” representing Vietnam to international friends. Through their words and actions, they contributed to affirming the position of Vietnamese youth in the broader regional development landscape.
The trip has ended, but the journey of growth continues. Today’s HUST GenZ students are writing their own stories - stories of a generation that dares to think, act, connect, and shape the future.
And perhaps what remains most meaningful is this spirit: Knowledge to serve, integration to develop, and aspiration to reach far beyond.
