Prof. Le Anh Tuan Appointed as HUST President

​ On May 22, 2026, the Ministry of Education and Training issued Decision No. 1288/QD-BGDDT appointing Prof. Dr. Meritorious Teacher Le Anh Tuan as the President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

This decision was made to consolidate human resources for higher education institutions to develop in the new period, in the spirit of Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in education and training development. Simultaneously, it ensures the requirements for stability, inheritance, and development of training institutions under the provisions of the 2025 (Amended) Law on Higher Education, which contains many important changes regarding the governance model of public universities.

A Journey of Attachment and Dedication at Hanoi University of Science and Technology

Prof. Le Anh Tuan was born in 1975, originally from Ha Tinh province. He is an alumnus of Cohort 37 majoring in Dynamic Mechanical Engineering at Hanoi University of Science and Technology. After graduating with excellence, he was retained as a teaching staff member at the School of Mechanical Engineering from 1997. He completed his doctoral program at the Graz University of Technology, Republic of Austria, during the 2002-2005 period.

Prof. Le Anh Tuan was appointed to the title of Associate Professor in 2009 and Professor in 2017. With an advanced degree in political theory, he has held many important leadership positions at the University. The positions he has held include Head of Department, Director of the Centrally Invested Laboratory, and Director of the Institute of Dynamic Mechanical Engineering.

The 2016 - 2025 period recorded his contributions to university governance in the roles of Secretary of the University Council, Vice Chairman, and Chairman of the University Council.

Currently, he serves as the Secretary of the Party Committee of Hanoi University of Science and Technology. A Prestigious Scientist and Expert

The new President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology is an influential scientist in the fields of Mechanical - Dynamic Engineering, automotive and autonomous vehicles, renewable energy, and alternative fuels. His scientific achievements are demonstrated through chief-editing and co-authoring 7 books, owning 2 intellectual property patents, and publishing over 150 articles in prestigious journals. His H-Index reaches 32 on Google Scholar and 29 on Scopus.

Alongside his work at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Prof. Le Anh Tuan also holds many social and professional responsibilities:
Member of the Prime Minister's Assisting Team on science, technology, innovation, digital transformation, and Project 06;
Member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City;
Vice Chairman of the Interdisciplinary Professor Council for Mechanical - Dynamic Engineering;
Member of the Global Electric Vehicle Network (GEAN).

The appointment of Prof. Le Anh Tuan to the position of President is expected to drive Hanoi University of Science and Technology to continue developing strongly, affirming its position as a leading higher education institution in science and technology within the context of autonomy and international integration.​
