Hanoi University of Science and Technology was sponsored 431,200 USD by a Japanese enterprise

Yaskawa Electric Corporation, Japan donated laboratories to the School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and School of Mechanical Engineering, HUST on January 25, 2024. HUST organized and presided over the ceremony.

Assoc. Prof. Huynh Dang Chinh, Vice President of HUST, appreciated that Yaskawa Electric Group and HUST jointly inaugurated the i3 - Mechatronics experimental system at the School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and the Automatic welding robot experimental system at the School of Mechanical Engineering. HUST students would experiment in these laboratories to expand knowledge of automation.

Assoc. Prof. Huynh Dang Chinh emphasized: "HUST always appreciates cooperation with Japanese partners. We hope this signing ceremony will mark a significant milestone for our collaboration in the coming years. We can quickly deploy joint research activities."

Mr. Nobuakia Jinnouchi - President and CEO of Yaskawa Electric  Group in Asia-Pacific region - was grateful for cooperating with HUST. To promote intercultural, educational, and technological exchanges, the two parties agreed to establish bilateral relationships and promote cooperation in training. The effort includes developing HUST's education, promoting automation technology, tightening the academic relationship between HUST and Yaskawa Electric Group, and providing equipment in teaching and learning for HUST.

Yaskawa Electric Group, headquartered in Fukuoka, Japan, is a top-ranked corporation that manufactures and supplies products for electric drives and worldwide industrial robots. Yaskawa Electric Group has been in Vietnam since 2010. In recent times, the Group has contributed to the solid and sustainable development of Vietnam by providing a lot of industrial automation equipment for several large factories and projects such as Thaco, Vinfast, Honda, Toyota, Foxxcon, Luxshare, Masan, Samsung, LG, Hoa Phat, Vietso Petro, Lotte, etc.

Thousands of engineers graduated from Hanoi University of Science and Technology are currently working in key scientific and industrial fields.

Yaskawa Electric Group and HUST started comprehending each other's demands and developing cooperation in June 2022. After having discussed and visited HUST, the Yaskawa Electric Group learned that HUST is Vietnam's leading university of science, engineering, and technology. Many students graduating from HUST hold vital roles at reputable companies in the engineering industry.

In order to cooperate and provide education and training support HUST about robotics and automation, Yaskawa Electric Group decided to sponsor the i3 - Mechatronics experimental system and Automatic welding robot experimental  system for HUST. The School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and the School of Mechanical Engineering are the two schools directly receiving and using the sponsorship of 431,200 USD.

According to the agreement, Yaskawa Electric Group would donate an Automatic welding robot experimental system worth 92,000 USD to the School of Mechanical Engineering. This system is based on Yaskawa's world-leading advanced technology platform, solutions, and equipment. The system contains welding robots, advanced welding sources, servo drives and high-performance AC inverters, motion controllers, digital software solution packages, etc., that are integrated following the advanced intelligent system model towards the 4.0 industrial revolution.

In addition, Yaskawa Electric Group also sponsored the 300,000 USD i3-Mechatronics for the School of Electricity and Electronics Engineering. This system is considered as the most comprehensive and modern in Vietnam and the ASEAN region. Its working principle is based on Yaskawa and some leading Japanese brands' technology platform. This lab integrated with the advanced intelligent system model (containing digital control, computer vision, and an intelligent manufacturing system) to promote the 4.0 industrial revolution. It is suitable for the training program in automation, mechatronics, and some related fields at HUST.
