HUST President Pays Visits To Korean Academic & Industrial Partners

From 30/10 – 03/11/2023, Assoc. Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang leading a delegation of  leaders of the Schools of Chemistry and Life Science; School of Materials Sciences, and School of Mechanical Engineering, and Department of Partnership and Engagement paid a working visit to the South Korea.

This is the first official visit to Korea by Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang on the position of HUST President aiming at promoting collaboration in training, scientific research, and technology transfer between HUST and its academic and business partners in South Korea.
The working trip yielded positive collaboration results and meaningful experiences for the entire delegation.
Overview of the working session at Chungnam National University

On October 30, 2023, at Chungnam National University (CNU), Professor Huynh Quyet Thang and Dr. Lee Jin-Sook, the President of Chungnam National University, signed a cooperation agreement to establish the CNU - HUST Global Center at Chungnam National University and the HUST - CNU Global Center at HUST. The CNU - HUST Center in Chungnam was inaugurated on the same day.

The HUST - CNU Global Center at Hanoi University of Science and Technology will be supported by Chungnam National University with research equipment & online classrooms, laying the groundwork for promoting joint teaching, training, staff and student exchange, and Korean cultural and language exchange activities at Hanoi University of Science and Technology.
 

Leaders from both institutions expressed solidarity and determination to strengthen cooperative relations in education, research, and technology transfer. On the same day, Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang and the delegation participated in an international workshop to promote collaboration between the two universities.
Chungnam National University, established in 1952, offers a variety of disciplines, including engineering, natural sciences, social sciences, and economics. CNU ranks among the top 5 national universities in South Korea and is one of the leading universities in Daejeon, the fifth-largest city in central South Korea.

HUST & KAIST: Pioneering the Future Together
 
Leaders from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) warmly welcomed HUST delegation
On the second working day in Korea (October 31, 2023), Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang and HUST delegation visited and worked with College of Natural Science and College of Engineering, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). 

Established in 1971, KAIST is a prominent institution in Korea known for its leading education and research in science and technology. KAIST has gained recognition not only in Asia but also globally with the strengths on engineering and natural sciences. The institute has campuses in Daejeon (main campus) and Seoul. KAIST currently consists of five affiliated schools, seven research institutes, and 33 departments, covering a wide range of disciplines.
 

Leaders of Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology posed for a photo beside the banner with slogan: "HUST & KAIST: Pioneering the future together." Concluding their visit and discussion at KAIST, HUST delegates were impressed by the enthusiasm and warmth of the colleagues at KAIST. The discussion between the two parties set the goal expressed in the banner: "HUST and KAIST: Pioneering the future together".
Professor Thang positively evaluated the results of the second working day at one of the top engineering institutions in Korea: "Clear objectives, sincere exchanges, dedicated and heartfelt work."

Today, November 1, 2023, HUST delegation led by Professor Huynh Quyet Thang visited and worked at Woosuk University – a leading university in Jeollabuk-do province, promoting their multilateral collaboration on research and technology transfer.

In early October 2023, a delegation from Woosuk University and Carbon & Hydrogen Research Association (South Korea) visited and worked at HUST, expressing their desire to collaborate with HUST in the areas of education, research, and technology transfer. Following the visit’s collaborative proposals and exchange at HUST, Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang and Prof. Nam Chun-Hyun – President of Woosuk University, officially signed the  Memorandum of Understanding to foster international cooperation in education and research, expanding educational opportunities.

Also in the working framework at Woosuk University, Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang signed a multi-lateral MOU among 8 academic and industrial parties including: Jeollabuk-do Province, HUST, Woosuk University, Korea Carbon Industry Promotion Agency, Carbon and Hydrogen Research Association, Korea Institute of Convergence Textile, Vinatech Co.,Ltd, SungEel HiTech Co.,Ltd. The agreement focuses on promoting international collaboration in education and research, as well as expanding educational opportunities to link with employment. This cooperative agreement will serve as the foundation for all parties to engage in multilateral cooperation in scientific research and technology transfer in Vietnam and Korean. 
On the same day, the delegation from Hanoi University of Science and Technology visited the Vinatech Wanju Factory, a company with products applied across various areas related to the structure of smart cities, such as infrastructure and carbon materials.

In June 2023, President Yoon Suk Yeol of South Korea, accompanied by his spouse, visited Vietnam. This trip marked President Yoon's first visit to a Southeast Asian country in his new position, emphasizing the significance Seoul attaches to this relationship.
Amidst this new phase of development, Hanoi University of Science and Technology has continuously strengthened its educational and research collaborations, contributing to society through integrated partnerships with universities, businesses, and governmental entities from Korea. 
The working visit led by HUST President to South Korea this time serves as an evidence of HUST’s commitment & efforts in intensifying its collaboration with South Korea and other international partners to jointly achieve goals in education, research, and innovative advancements, contributing to the realization of its objectives in training, research, and innovative initiatives.
 
According to the working schedule, tomorrow (November 2, 2023), and the day after (November 3, 2023), the delegation from Hanoi University of Science and Technology will visit and work with Hanyang University and Donguk University in Seoul. They will also have a meeting at the Embassy of Vietnam in South Korea.
