On May 10-11, the campus of Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) was filled with flowers and celebration as 2,952 students proudly graduated, surrounded by their supportive faculty, family, and friends. The May 2025 cohort includes 739 engineers and 2,213 bachelor's degree recipients, with over 600 students earning honors for outstanding academic achievement.
At the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Phong Dien, Vice President of HUST, praised the graduates for their perseverance and academic excellence, noting that completing a degree at Vietnam’s leading university is a testament to each individual’s intellect and determination. He emphasized that wherever they go, graduates remain part of the HUST community, carrying with them the core values of responsibility, innovation, straightforwardness, and excellence. Assoc. “With the achievements you’ve made, you wear your graduation gown with pride—it marks a major milestone before stepping into a new journey full of opportunities, aspirations, and challenges,” the Vice President said. He also extended heartfelt thanks to the families whose trust and support have been key to the students’ success. Trinh Minh Tuan, an outstanding graduate of the Advanced Mechatronics Program Cohort 66, School of Mechanical Engineering, represents the graduating class.
On behalf of the graduating class, Trinh Minh Tuan, an outstanding graduate of the Advanced Mechatronics Program Cohort 66, School of Mechanical Engineering, responded to the support and high expectations from faculty. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to his parents, professors, and friends, and to himself for choosing HUST as the foundation of his personal and academic growth. Tuan also gave special thanks to Dr. Nguyen Thai Minh Tuan, whose dedicated mentorship played a key role in helping him overcome challenges and achieve academic excellence.

Sharing the sentiment, other graduates also viewed the ceremony as both a milestone and a tribute to the people and experiences that defined their university journey. For Vu Quang Dat, a Thermal Engineering student from Cohort 65, five transformative years at HUST, along with his mother’s invisible support, has shaped him into a more confident and determined person. Similarly, Pham Vu Tuan Dat, a Computer Science student from Cohort 66, expressed his deep appreciation for HUST’s challenging yet opportunity-rich environment.

Do Thi Ha, mother of Nguyen Quang Thang - a Mechanical Engineering graduate, traveled from Phuc Yen with her sisters, all dressed in their best ao dai, to celebrate her son’s graduation. Holding back tears, she said she would always be his steady anchor: “I’ll always be by your side, with no regrets.” Hoang Danh Hoan attends his grandson Hoang Danh Ton’s graduation.
Despite being over 80, Hoang Danh Hoan traveled more than 300 kilometers from Nghe An to attend his grandson Hoang Danh Ton’s graduation. His slow steps were filled with pride and determination. “I’m incredibly proud to see my grandson in his graduation gown. This is the result of his hard work, and I want him to know that I’m always here, supporting him,” he said.
As their time at HUST comes to an end, the graduates carry with them the growth, resilience, and ambition shaped by the university’s strong educational foundation and rich traditions. With this solid foundation, they are now ready to embark on the next chapter of their journey.
