The School of Mechanical Engineering, HUST signs a Memorandum of Understanding with Toyota Motor Vietnam and Binh Son Refinery and Petrochemical JSC
Hanoi, 16th March 2023, The School of Mechanical Engineering, Hanoi University of Science and Technology signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Toyota Motor Vietnam and Binh Son Refinery and Petrochemical JSC. for conducting the Research Project on the effectiveness of biofuel application on all vehicles in Vietnam.

SME will conduct research, monitoring and evaluation on the effectiveness of biofuel use in all vehicles including models using conventional gasoline engines and models using Hybrid engines. The parties will analyze the emission reduction efficiency of vehicles when using biofuels towards wide application in traffic conditions in Vietnam.
Opening speech at the cooperation signing ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Huynh Dang Chinh - Deputy Director of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, highly appreciates the signing of research and development cooperation agreements between the Hanoi University of Science and Technology and all companies, greatly contributing to the University's successful implementation of the University's important mission. “Strengthen the development of science, technology and innovation activities; Strengthen business cooperation and promote international integration”.

He also expressed his firm belief that "the cooperation program on research effectiveness of biofuel for modern car in Vietnam" will achieve positive results. The cooperation is not only meaningful to training and research at Hanoi University of Science and Technology but also actively contributes to the development orientation of the industry, and to the development of Vietnam's economy and society as a whole.

At the signing ceremony, Chief Executive Officer of Toyota Asia Region - Mr. Hao Quoc Tien shared: “The Vietnam government targets match Toyota’s own ambitions to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Toyota believes that ‘Carbon’ is the “enemy” and it must be tackled by all possible carbon-reducing technologies and solutions. Representative of the project co-sponsor, Mr. Bui Ngoc Duong - President of Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company said: “We hope that all parties will develop smooth collaboration in this project and also in many other activities along with Government & society in the journey towards Carbon Net-Zero. We believe that the results of this project will contribute to providing state management agencies, enterprises, and society with a more specific perspective on improving energy efficiency, contributing to the implementation of commitments, which directly lead to the achievement of Vietnam's carbon emission reduction target”.
