HUST President was honored at Vietnam Glory Award 2023
Assoc. Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang – HUST’s President – together with 15 groups and individuals was honoured in the Vietnam Glory Programme 2023 with the theme: Vietnam's will. 

The program is directed by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, in coordination with the Central Committee on Emulation and Rewards, central ministries, and agencies, and directly organized by Lao Dong Newspaper.

This is not only an individual but collective honour of staff, lecturers, and students of Hanoi University of Science and Technology. Vietnam Glory 2023 Award is a special socio-political event honouring heroic collectives and individuals, national emulation soldiers, and exemplary patriots for their contribution to the national construction and defence.

Assoc. Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang was regarded as a typical example of arousing the aspiration to develop the country with contributions to promoting the innovation and quality of the enrollment process and HUST’s model transformation toward a multidisciplinary university with a higher position in the world ranking system.

Speaking at the Vietnam Glory program on the evening of June 4, Mr Nguyen Dinh Khang - Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - emphasized Assoc. Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang is one of the exemplars of teachers and scientists who are always at the forefront of research, innovation, and creativity, with many works and activities that have left their mark domestically and internationally.

Assoc. Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang has been with HUST for 25 years. In 2009, he was Head of the School of Information and Communication Technology. In 2020, Assoc. Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang was appointed President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology. In 2022, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1512/QD-TTg to transform HUST’s model, Assoc. Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang remained the leader of the university.

Leaders and students of Hanoi University of Science and Technology are honoured and proud to congratulate Assoc. Huynh Quyet Thang at the Vietnam Glory ceremony on the evening of June 4th.

As an education manager, Assoc. Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang has closely directed and successfully implemented the transformation of the university's organizational model. Parallel with the transformation process is the rearrangement of the organizational structure towards a more efficient public non-business unit.

Based on the reorganization of training institutes and research institutes, Hanoi University of Science and Technology has established 5 Schools (School of Mechanics, School of Information and Communication Technology, School of Electrical - Electronics, School of Materials, School of Chemistry and Life Science) under the University.

The transformation process has brought many impressive results. The number of units decreased from 52 to 42 teams, leading to the reduction of the number of focal points of administrative management units and staff by 50-60% at all levels. Hanoi University of Science and Technology has a pioneering role in higher education in general and the field of science and technology, implementing many collaborative activities in critical areas: science and technology innovation, training program development, international accreditation, quality assurance, etc.

Assoc. Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang has been honoured many times by the Party and State for his contributions to the education sector. In 2022, he received the Second-Class Labor Medal; Emulation soldiers at the ministerial level; the title of Excellent Teacher (in 2021), with 5 initiatives, solutions, and many scientific publications in prestigious domestic and international scientific journals.

The Vietnam Glory 2023 Program honours 16 typical collectives and individuals who are examples of will and aspiration. Until 2023, 274 collectives and individuals have been honoured through 18 Vietnam Glory periods, including 100 groups and 174 individuals.

I understand that this award is also a recognition of the development process of Hanoi University of Science and Technology as a whole. The initial results have shown that the planning and implementation of the university strategy has been on the right track and our university has the support of the society.
