General Secretary To Lam and senior officials of Vietnam and South Korea witness the signing of cooperation agreements.
Within the framework of the visit to South Korea led by General Secretary To Lam, Assoc. Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang – Director of Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) – participated in a series of significant activities to strengthen academic, scientific, and industrial partnerships.
On August 10, Assoc. Prof. Thang attended a networking event with the Vietnamese intellectual and innovation community in Korea, exchanging ideas on how overseas expertise can contribute to Vietnam’s development in science and technology.
On August 11, HUST signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Hyosung Group, one of Korea’s leading industrial conglomerates. Based on the strengths and mutual needs of both institutions, the MoU aims to promote cooperation in: Exchange of scientific knowledge and technical expertise; Faculty and technical staff exchange programs; Joint research and development projects, particularly in advanced materials, automation, and green technologies; Internship, career orientation, and recruitment opportunities for HUST students; Joint organization of conferences and academic workshops; Scholarship sponsorship and development of specialized short courses to meet industry demand.

Later the same day, HUST formalized an academic and scientific cooperation agreement with the College of Engineering, Seoul National University (SNU). The two universities agreed to promote: Student exchange programs enabling HUST students to study and conduct research at SNU; Faculty and researcher exchanges; Joint research activities and publication of shared outcomes; Sharing of academic materials and scientific publications; Additional collaborative training and academic programs.
This marks an important milestone in strengthening the friendship and academic ties between Vietnam’s leading technical university and South Korea’s top national university.

On August 12, HUST signed further agreements with Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) and Kyungpook National University during the Vietnam–Korea Economic Forum themed “Cooperation in Developing Production Chains in the New Era.”
With POSTECH, the two sides committed to cultural, educational, and scientific collaboration through: Joint research and publications; Dual-degree and joint training programs; Exchange of scholars, faculty, and students; Co-supervision of undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students.
The MoU also set the framework for a student exchange program, with up to four students from each side per year joining a one-semester exchange, or three students for a two-semester exchange.

Meanwhile, HUST and Kyungpook National University agreed to enhance cooperation in: Student and faculty exchange; Joint academic programs, including double-degree opportunities; Research collaboration; Exchange of scientific publications and information.
Both sides stressed their commitment to expanding mutual benefits through international collaboration within the global higher education community.

Also on August 12, Assoc. Prof. Thắng attended a Vietnam–Korea Science and Technology Cooperation Forum, where HUST reaffirmed its strategic focus on artificial intelligence, semiconductor technology, and sustainable innovation – areas central to the future of Vietnam – Korea relations.

Over the years, HUST’s partnerships with Korean universities and corporations have grown increasingly strong. The cooperation agreements signed during this visit reflect the shared vision of Vietnam and South Korea in advancing science, technology, innovation, and higher education.
By joining General Secretary To Lam’s visit to South Korea, HUST once again underscored its role as one of Vietnam’s premier institutions in engineering, science, and technology – pioneering in the mission of “regional integration and global connectivity.”
