On July 16th, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) and Hoa Phat Group (HPG) signed a cooperation agreement to leverage the potential and strengths of each party, mutually supporting the fulfillment of their respective to support each other in achieving their shared and individual goals.

According to the agreement, HUST will enhance its training capacity and scientific research activities, improve practical knowledge for staff, lecturers, and students, and increase the effectiveness of its training and dissemination of specialized knowledge. The university will also focus on applying research outcomes to business and production, particularly in the field of metallurgy.
In return, Hoa Phat Group commits to expanding its collaborative efforts to attract lecturers and experts to participate in research, development, technology transfer, digital transformation, and innovation. The company will also support human resource training and development and coordinate on research and development initiatives, digital transformation, and expert exchanges.
Furthermore, HPG will facilitate opportunities for HUST's staff, lecturers, and students to gain practical experience through internships, site surveys, and participation in scientific activities.

At the signing ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang, President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, expressed his hope that the partnership between HUST and Hoa Phat Group will be substantive and yield significant results.
"I hope the cooperation between HUST and Hoa Phat Group will be further deepened, combining the strengths and aspirations of both sides for mutual development," the HUST President emphasized.
Mr. Nguyen Viet Thang, CEO of Hoa Phat Group, stated at the ceremony, "I am delighted that we are elevating our relationship to a strategic partnership today. This will serve as a foundation for us to develop detailed cooperation roadmaps, commit to implementation, and achieve outstanding outcomes."

The CEO of Hoa Phat Group also shared that nearly 900 HUST alumni are currently working and holding key positions at HPG. He expressed his admiration for HUST's operational approach and its strength in simultaneously integrating training with scientific research.
Also at the signing ceremony, representatives from the leadership of HUST's various schools introduced their respective institutions, and both parties engaged in more detailed discussions about the collaborative content.

In line with Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, the Party and Government of Vietnam place special emphasis on the development of science and technology, considering it a top national priority and a key driver for the country's development. The Resolution of the 13th Party Congress and subsequent directives have underscored the role of science and technology in promoting economic growth, enhancing productivity, quality, competitiveness, and international integration.
In March 2025, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long signed Decision No. 663/QD-TTg dated March 25, 2025 of the Prime Minister approving the Project to develop Hanoi University of Science and Technology into the group of leading higher education institutions in Asia.
The content of the Project proposes to develop Hanoi University of Science and Technology into a modern higher education institution, among the leading in Asia in the field of engineering and technology; an excellent center for training, talent development, research and innovation, playing a leading role in the Vietnamese higher education system in the fields serving the development of technology and strategic industries (including the fields of artificial intelligence, cyber security, blockchain, electronics, semiconductors, chips, digital technology, robotics and automation, energy, environment, biotechnology, advanced materials, etc.); actively contributing to the socio-economic development of Hanoi, the Red River Delta and the whole country.
