On September 22, the HUST Trade Union held a ceremony honoring children of faculty, staff, and union members, from grades 1 to 12, for their outstanding achievements in the 2023-2024 academic year.
Helping students thrive - Letting mentors shine
Unlike the bustling atmosphere of the annual BK Family Day, this year’s event set aside its usual recreational and social activities in solidarity with the people affected by storms No. 3 and No. 4.
Instead, the event focused on recognizing children with outstanding achievements. Among the 1,761 children from grades 1 to 12, 299 of them stood out: 10 won national awards, 45 received city-level awards, 98 achieved district-level awards, 106 obtained school-level awards, and 40 were admitted to HUST.
In his congratulatory speech, Assoc. Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang, President of HUST, praised the talented F1 and F2 generations for their hard work and achievements. He encouraged them to keep excelling and uphold the values of being exemplary students and worthy children of Uncle Ho.
The President of HUST thanked parents who are staff and faculty for their dedication to their job and the university, highlighting their importance as role models for their children.
"Today, the university aims to strengthen families within the Bach Khoa community, ensuring that HUST remains a place that “helps students thrive - lets mentors shine.” Behind every successful teacher are excellent students, happy families, and the strong support of HUST."
The talented F1, F2 generations of HUSTers
These students either have parents or grandparents work or study at HUST. Inspired by their families' love for education, they share a special bond with the university. We affectionately call them the F1 and F2 Generations of HUSTers!
On behalf of nearly 300 outstanding students, Nghiem Thuc Uyen, a freshman majoring in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, daughter of Dr. Nghiem Trung Dung from the School of Chemistry and Life Sciences, emotionally shared: “Since I was young, every new school year, I looked forward to coming to Bach Khoa to attend the recognition program for the children of staff and faculty and dreamed of becoming a student here. Today, my dream has come true!”
Vuong Khang, a 10th-grade IT student from Hanoi – Amsterdam High School For The Gifted, son of Dr. Le Thi Hai Thanh and Dr. Vuong Son from the School of Engineering Physics, expressed his gratitude after winning first place in the National Youth Scientific and Technical Innovation Competition: “Thank you, Mom and Dad, for always supporting and encouraging me. Thank you HUST, where my parents work, for your continuous motivation.”
Ngo Gia Hieu, a student from class 12A1 Chemistry at HUS High School for Gifted Students, VNU University of Science (HSGS), son of Bui Thanh Nga, a lecturer from the School of Economics, expressed his excitement after receiving an award from HUST for winning third place in the National Chemistry Competition. He said, "Every time I visit HUST, I feel more attached to this place, and I’m especially proud to have my mother as a lecturer here!"
Arriving at the event early, Tran Nguyen Vu Phuc, a 6th-grade student from Chu Van An Secondary School (Long Bien), son of Dr. Tran Nguyen Ngoc, School of Information and Communication Technology, attended the ceremony with his grandfather after receiving a gold medal for the School-level Mathematics Competition. Vu Phuc has visited his father's workplace several times and enjoyed the spacious, green environment. The 6th grader is determined to become a HUST student in the future, so he can go to school with his dad every day!
As the program concluded, the young students left with bright smiles, excited about their recognition for the past school year's efforts. Some even connected on Facebook, promising, "See you next year!" With the support of their parents and the university's guidance, these students are poised to achieve even greater success, representing the talented F1 and F2 generations of HUSTers.
