In the 2024-2025 academic year, Hanoi University of Science and Technology is promoting the use of buses to reduce traffic congestion, minimize environmental pollution, and enhance students' self-development. Students who ride the bus will receive bonus training points from the university.

Social and Environmental Benefits of Bus Travel

HUST students can help reduce urban traffic congestion by using public transport, especially buses, as they can carry many passengers at once and occupy less space than personal vehicles.

Additionally, buses are a sustainable and eco-friendly mode of transportation that addresses problems such as air pollution caused by personal vehicles and the resulting greenhouse effect. Students are encouraged to adopt new commuting habits to help protect the environment.

Three Benefits of Bus Travel for Students
  • Physical Activity: Walking to and from the bus stops is a daily exercise that boosts physical and mental well-being.
  • Cost Savings: Monthly bus passes offer students unlimited travel at a significantly lower cost compared to frequent rides on ride-hailing services.
  • Punctuality: Buses run on a fixed schedule. Tracking bus arrival times helps students be punctual, ensuring they catch their bus and reach their destination on time.

Given these benefits, the habit of using public transportation in general, and buses in particular, should be encouraged and widely promoted.

In order to be evaluated for training points, students must participate in activities satisfying one of the following three criteria:
  1. Promoting the Party's policies, laws, and regulations and principles established and recognized by local authorities and the university.
  2. Maintaining public order and security, protecting the environment, promoting a civilized lifestyle in public space, and upholding the university's image.
  3. Promoting national and cultural identity, local culture, school culture, etc.
