HUST leaders, faculty, and AQAS delegation at the closing session.
From March 19 to 21, the Agency for Quality Assurance through Accreditation of Study Programs (AQAS) conducted a third round of accreditations at Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST). They evaluated four bachelor programs at the School of Chemistry and Life Sciences: Bioengineering, Food Engineering (Advanced Program), Pharmaceutical Chemical Engineering (Advanced Program), and Nuclear Engineering.
As a member of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA), AQAS enhances credit transfer, international exchange, and global career opportunities for students. The accreditation process follows the European Standards and Guidelines (ESG) framework, assessing seven key areas: curriculum quality, quality assurance processes, teaching and assessment, admissions and degree recognition, faculty, student resources, and transparency. Assoc. Prof. Tran Ngoc Khiem, Vice President of HUST, welcomes the AQAS delegation.
Assoc. Prof. Tran Ngoc Khiem, Vice President of HUST, affirmed: “One of seven key missions in the university’s development plan for 2025 is to enhance training programs to meet international standards.” This is also a long-term goal in the university’s journey toward becoming a leading multidisciplinary university in Asia and beyond for engineering and technology. AQAS accreditations aid HUST in accelerating internationalization and integration into global education. As part of the accreditation process, the team of experts from AQAS, led by Mr. Ronny Heintze, Deputy Director for International Development, gathered insights on university governance, including vision, development strategy, the roadmap to becoming a top 100 Asian university in science and technology, and student support policies. The delegation also inspected campus facilities and conducted interviews with faculty, students, alumni, and employers.

At the closing session, AQAS experts praised HUST for their high-quality faculty, well-structured programs, diverse learning materials, and adequate facilities. They also acknowledged students’ strong personal skills and adaptability, noting that most graduates from the four accredited programs are job-ready.
Earlier in February and March, AQAS conducted evaluations for seven programs in the School of Mechanical Engineering, the School of Information and Communications Technology, the School of Economics and Management, and the Faculty of Education. This round of evaluation at the School of Chemistry and Life Sciences concludes the quality assessment by AQAS for Q1/2025.
