On December 8, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) hosted the 2024 Career Day, bringing together 25 domestic and international companies and over 3,000 students.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Huynh Dang Chinh, Vice President of HUST, emphasized the event's goal of connecting employers with high-quality talent while promoting their brands to HUST students.
As Vietnam's technological demands rapidly evolve, the need for skilled and ambitious talent continues to grow. HUST aims to provide students with strong foundational knowledge tied to industry needs, empowering them to intern, work, and grow professionally while still in school. Faculty encourage students to apply their knowledge to create innovative products for both domestic and global markets. In addition, the university collaborates with hundreds of companies locally and internationally to host career workshops, inspirational talks, soft skills training programs, job fairs, and career orientation events for students. From their first year, students engage with businesses to understand recruitment trends and prepare to meet employer expectations after graduation.
Nguyen Thanh Dat, a senior in Mechatronic Engineering, School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, joined the 2024 Career Day hoping to secure a suitable job. Dat emphasized the importance of actively participating in career fairs to understand job requirements and equip yourself with essential knowledge and skills before graduation.
Minh Nguyet, a junior, and Dieu Linh, a sophomore from the Faculty of Foreign Languages, eagerly visited booths recruiting English majors. Both have attended every career fair since their freshman year. Last year, Minh Nguyet aimed at a real estate company, and this year, she and her junior are continuing to engage with businesses to gain more industry insights.
Businesses and recruiters attending the 2024 Career Day praised students of HUST for their talent, knowledge, and hardworking attitude.
Nguyen Thi Minh, Head of Human Resources at Boydens Engineering Vietnam, noted that most students of HUST meet employer’s requirements. Fields like electrical engineering, thermal engineering, and environmental science are well-aligned with the company’s basic needs. She also emphasized the importance of soft skills in helping students maximize their potential in the workplace.
“This event provides students with opportunities to explore new software, tools, and apps, enabling them to quickly adapt to market trends and enhance their ability to thrive in international companies,” Ms. Minh said.
Cindy Chiu, Director of Cooler Master Vietnam, was excited to see a crowded booth filled with students exploring job opportunities. According to her, Cooler Master participated in Career Day to support the localization of high-quality labor in Vietnam. "Vietnam in general, and HUST in particular, provide a skilled workforce that greatly contributes to our company's growth," Ms. Chiu affirmed.
All participating companies expressed confidence in the quality of education at HUST and set ambitious recruitment goals, offering attractive salaries, multinational work opportunities, and special programs for graduates.
