This afternoon (November 16), Assoc. Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang, President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), hosted Governor Kuroiwa Yuji and a delegation from Kanagawa Prefecture (Japan) during their visit to Vietnam.
Assoc. Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang expressed his pleasure in welcoming the delegation, stating, “We hope this meeting marks the beginning of a collaborative relationship with universities, businesses, and organizations in Kanagawa Prefecture.” He expressed his confidence that Governor Kuroiwa Yuji's visit would further strengthen the strategic partnership between the university - Japan in general and Kanagawa Prefecture in particular.
On behalf of the delegation, Governor Kuroiwa Yuji thanked the university leadership for their warm welcome during his first visit to HUST, greeting Assoc. Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang in Vietnamese. He shared that his Vietnam trip includes the Kanagawa Hanoi Festival, two satellite events in Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City, and an investment seminar to strengthen Vietnam-Japan ties.
Amid an aging population, Japan is facing a labor shortage, particularly in engineering and technology sectors. To prepare for the future of a super-aged society, Japan has focused on me-byo (未病)—a state between health and illness—emphasizing investment in healthcare and information technology.
Governor Kuroiwa Yuji is specially impressed by HUST graduates working in Kanagawa-based businesses. He hopes the university’s talents will contribute to advancing technology and data science, supporting Kanagawa Prefecture through collaboration in developing high-quality human resources.
Following the working session, Governor Kuroiwa Yuji and the delegation toured the campus of HUST and the HUST Museum to learn more about the university’s history and development.
