On the afternoon of November 18, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) hosted the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Technical University of Ostrava and Tomas Bata University in Zlín (Czech Republic).
The Czech representatives at the signing were Prof. Vaclav Snasel, Rector of the Technical University of Ostrava, and Prof. Milan Adamek, Rector of Tomas Bata University in Zlín.
The agreement covers collaborative activities such as promote interest in the teaching and research activities of the respective institutions; promote institutional exchanges through mobility of faculty and administrators of the partner Institutions to participate in a variety of teaching and/or research activities and professional development; seek opportunities to receive students of the partner institution; seek opportunities for joint research projects; organize symposia, conferences, short courses, and meetings on research issues.
"Based on the achieved cooperation results, HUST believes that the signing of MOU today, with your esteemed presence and active participation, will strengthen the relationship between HUST and Czech universities, create the favorable environment for academic and research exchanges, and promote the internationalization process of both sides," emphasized Assoc. Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang, HUST's president.
The cooperation between Vietnam and the Czech Republic, particularly between HUST and Czech universities, has been long-standing and strong. Over the past 40 years, the Czech Republic has trained numerous engineers, master’s, and PhD graduates for Vietnam. More than 40 HUST faculty members have studied and conducted research in the Czech Republic, including 6 current professors and lecturers at HUST.
One of the goals of the University Development Strategy for the period 2025-2030 is to improve the quality and efficiency of scientific research, technology transfer, and innovation. With the vision of Hanoi University of Science and Technology to become a pioneering innovation research university in the Vietnamese higher education system, with a high position in the region and the world, the University now identifies four priority areas of science and technology are Data Technology and Smart Systems, Sustainable Energy & Environment, New Materials, Semiconductor, Health Science and Technology, and at the same time perfecting the ecosystem to support creative startups in the University.
