On October 13th, 2017, Assoc. Prof. Hoang Minh Son, HUST President and Mrs. Kim Thi Thu Huong – Director of van Laack Asia Co., Ltd (German) officially signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) towards the collaboration in establishing the practical study program entitled “Advanced Garment Technology” based on the German dual education system for the students of School of Garment and Textile Fashion – HUST.
Attending the signing ceremony were H.E. Mr. Christian Berger – German Ambassador to Vietnam, representatives from Governmental & Ministerial Agencies of Vietnam and Germany; representatives from the University of Niederrhein (German) and many delegates from HUST & Van Laack Asia Co., Ltd. The MOU signing ceremony was witnessed by a large number of students of School of Textile - Leather and Fashion - HUST.

According to this cooperation, students in School of Textile - Leather and Fashion - HUST will have opportunity to spend half of their studying period at HUST and the other half in practical classes and soft skills training (language, IT & group work skills…) given by lecturers and industrial experts of the fields from Vietnam and Germany. At the end of training course, students will be awarded certification of completion by German partners. This dual education system was originated from the German 800-year vocational dual training system – an effective training model in Europe.
At the signing Ceremony, H.E. Mr. Christian Berger, Assoc. Prof. Hoang Minh Son – HUST President and Mrs. Kim Thi Thu Huong cut inauguration ribbons of the Vocation Training Center (VTC). The purpose of this newly established Center is to promote close cooperation between higher educational institutions and industry, to enable students to be benefited from the German dual training system - Combining theory studying with practical experience in industry.

Addressing at the signing ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Hoang Minh Son – HUST President expressed his high appreciation to the German Embassy in Vietnam and the Van Laack Co. Ltd., for their cooperation in establishing this prospective collaborative program. The President emphasized: One of the measures to improve the quality of training identified in the development strategy of HUST in 2017-2025 is to boost up the university – industry collaboration. The signed MOU with van Laack Asia Co. Ltd. has a special meaning in developing a training program which can meet the demand of the industry and increase job opportunities for HUST students. The German dual training system applied at HUST will help students to practice in a professional working environment & catch up with the global technology trend.
This joint training program is expected to be kicked off in early 2018.
