At the invitation of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Assoc. Prof. Hoang Minh Son, the President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology and the accompanied delegation have paid an official visit to headquarters of educational, research and technological agencies and universities in Germany, including the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD – Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst), Alexander von Humbolt Foundation (AvH), the German Research Foundation (DFG – Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft), the German Rectors' Conference (HRK- Hochschulrektorenkonferenz), University of Würzburg, Technical University of Munich (TUM), Technical University Dresden (TUD), Technical University of Berlin (TUB) and Fraunhofer Institute for Open Communication Systems (FOKUS). The delegation also had a discussion with Dr. Philipp Lengsfeld, senator of the Federal Republic of Germany as well as had an informal meeting with the representatives of the Embassy of Vietnam.
At the educational, research and technological agencies such as DAAD, AvH, DFG, HRK, the President had important discussion with Dr. Dorothea Rueland (Secretary General – DAAD), Dr. Klaus Manderla (Head of Division Asia – AvH Foundation), Dr. Jens-Peterr Gaul (Secretary General – HRK) as well as the Head of Division Asia (DFG); thereby creating new opportunities for cooperation with German research and education bodies, especially for the development of undergraduate & graduate educational programs, exchanges of faculty and students as well as bilateral research projects between HUST and German partners funded by the German and Vietnamese governments.
During the visits to German universities and research institutions, the President and other delegates had specific discussion for establishing and intensifying the cooperation in the development of international undergraduate and postgraduate programs on Information and Communication Technology, Electronics and Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science and Environment Engineering. A number of research directions had been proposed for potential future collaborations such as: Future Internet, Internet of Things, Virtual Reality, Human-Machine Interaction, Aerospace Electronics, and Bioinformatics with TU Munich, University of Würzburg, TU Dresden, TU Berlin, and Environmental Engineering with TU Berlin.
In particular, the delegation visited several laboratories and discussed cooperation possibilities in research and education in the field of Industry 4.0, which is a particularly strong field of universities and research institutions in Germany. At the meeting with Fraunhofer FOKUS and its spin-off company - Core Network Dynamics, the delegation exchanged the possibility of cooperation in research and technology transfer for Vietnam IT companies on 4G/5G technologies, IoT and Industry 4.0. The delegation consulted and exchanged experience with Berlin Center for Entrepreneurship located at the Technical University of Berlin, one of the leading business and start-up incubators in Europe.
The trip ended successfully with many open opportunities for extensive cooperation with German universities in general as well as TU Berlin, TU Dresden, University of Würzburg, TU Munich and FOKUS in particular in education, exchanges of staffs and students and collaborations in research and technology transfer activities.
