According to QS World Ranking by subjects 2022, all five subjects of Hanoi University of Science and Technology have increased their rankings this year, ranked 1st in Vietnam and 300-450th in the world. Engineering and Technology, assessed as the University’s strongest broad subject area, is placed at rank 360 in the world for the first time.
The UK Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has just announced the results of the QS World Ranking by subjects 2022. This year, Hanoi University of Science and Technology has 5 ranked subjects including Electrical & Electronic Engineering; Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing Engineering; Computer Science and Information Systems; Mathematics; and Materials science.
According to the ranking, Electrical - Electronic Engineering and Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing Engineering subjects are ranked in the top 350 in the world (up 100 positions).
With the Computer Science and Information Systems subject, HUST is ranked in 401-450 positions in the world, up 150 places compared to its ranking last year.
Since the first time these subjects have been ranked by QS in 2019, 3 mentioned subjects’ rankings always remained the highest among Vietnamese-ranked universities.
After 2 years, this is the first time Mathematics subject has reached Top 1 in Vietnam and been in 351-400 position in the world.
The Materials Science subject has just entered the ranking but taken the highest position among Vietnamese ranked universities. This year, HUST is placed in the group of 400-410 best universities in Materials Science in the world.
What is noteworthy, this year marks the first-ever entrance of our broad subject area Engineering and Technology, ranked 360th in the world and 1st in Vietnam. Engineering and Technology is assessed as the University’s strongest field.
With these results, HUST’s process of innovation and the autonomy model building are reaffirmed. The transformation in the organizational system and management model with the aid of digitalization has improved the quality and efficiency of all activities of the University. These positive changes are gradually fostering sustainable growth and creating a driving force for innovation and development, which promotes a higher profile for HUST domestically and internationally.
The QS World University Rankings by Subject utilizes four metrics including academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per paper, and H-index. For broad subject area evaluation, QS additionally uses the IRN (International Research Network) index that measures the effectiveness of research collaborations with international partners.
QS World University Rankings 2022 evaluates 51 industry groups in 5 broad subject areas including Arts and Humanities; Engineering and Technology; Life Sciences and Medicine; Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and Management.
QS is one of the three most prestigious world university rankings, besides Times Higher Education (UK) and Academic Ranking of World Universities (China).
Previously, HUST was ranked in 281-290 best universities in Asia according to the QS Asia 2022 rankings, rising 20 places.
